Portrait of NYC headshot and portrait photographer UDB Headshots in his Industry City, Brooklyn photo studio.

1. BOOK THE DATE

Follow the link to book your headshot session, sign the contract, and pay your retainer.

2. GET CLEAR ON YOUR LOOKS

It's helpful to get specific about the style and intention of each look well in advance of your headshot session. To help with this, I will send you a Photoshoot Preparation Form to complete. I also recommend sharing a Pinterest board of your style inspiration with me. The more thorough the preparation is, the more effective your headshots will be.

3. SHOOT DAY

On the day of your shoot, we'll meet at my studio in Industry City, Brooklyn. Please arrive with hair and makeup done unless we have previously arranged for your HMU artist to meet you here. Bring 2–3 outfit options for each headshot look we'll be shooting.

4. DELIVER PHOTOS

You will receive an online gallery with all the photos from your headshot session in about a week. The headshots you select for retouching will be ready in 1–2 weeks. If you need them sooner, please let me know in advance; I can usually accommodate a faster turnaround time for an additional fee.

NOTES ON STYLING

Why is the right styling important?

How we style your photos is going to portray who you are as an artist and also how you want to fit into the industry. We want to make interesting and effective choices that imbed you in genres and characters that come naturally to you. We'll work together to create a style that's both specific and versatile. The best way to do this is to keep it simple, but make choices that are bold and classic.

We want to get headshots that industry representatives will love (and use). We'll work together to make each look check the right boxes so your headshots open doors to opportunity.

FAQ

STYLING: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

I strongly recommend making a moodboard on Pinterest to share with me well before the shoot. Please bring 2–3 outfits per look so we can co-create the right style together along with the backdrop and lighting. Also please consider that pants and shoes may be visible in some shots we take.

DO I NEED A HAIR AND MAKEUP STYLIST?

I always encourage folks to get their hair and make-up professionally done. A good hair and makeup artist will help you achieve a very clear style, which is important for a high-performing headshot, and help make a clear distinction between different looks. It would be great to briefly discuss your hair styling before your shoot so it can mesh well with the other elements involved.

WHERE IS THE SHOOT?

We'll shoot at my photo studio in Industry City which is within walking distance from the N, R, and D lines at 36th Street in Brooklyn. An exact location will be provided upon booking.

WHAT IF I CAN'T FIND A BOOKING TIME THAT WORKS FOR ME?

If you are trying to book, but can't find availability that works for you, just reach out via email! I'll do my best to accommodate. My email is udbheadshots@gmail.com.

CAN I RESCHEDULE A BOOKING? WHAT ABOUT CANCELING?

Yes, you can reschedule your shoot up to 72 hours before your booking date. However, if rescheduling with less than 72 hours notice, your deposit will be forfeit. Similarly, all cancellations will result in a forfeit deposit. You can read more about this policy in your contract when booking.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?

Because I put a lot of care and attention into each gallery, you can expect to receive your online gallery within 1–2 weeks (usually about a week, depending on my workload). After you choose the photos you'd like me to retouch, I'll need another 1–2 weeks to complete the edits. If you need the retouched photos sooner, just let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate for an additional fee.

CAN I POST MY PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

Yes, just make sure to tag me (@ubdheadshots) when sharing my work. I also like to collaborate on special posts, so we will talk about that. However, if you post unedited photos, please mention in the caption that they haven’t been retouched. And if you have someone else retouch the photos, remember to credit them too.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept payments through Zelle, which is a service provided by most banks online for free. If you need to provide payments another way, just shoot me an email and we can work something out.

HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY PHOTOS FOR?

Great question! As you can imagine, keeping thousands of photos takes up a lot of storage and gets very expensive. I will keep your images in my archive for 1 year before deleting them to make room for new clients.
