NYC PHOTOGRAPHER & ACTOR

Uys du Buisson

I’m Uys (pronounced ‘Ace’). I grew up in South Africa. I performed as a physical actor with Cirque du Soleil for many years. Before that I was on a few national tours and appeared in all sorts of shows in NYC. Throughout my career I've always worked in highly physical theatre, because I am a conservatory trained actor who grew up training with a modern circus. Over the past 5 years I've made the shift to working in TV and film in NYC.

I first started photography by creating projects that combined acting, acrobatics and visual art. I received grant funding for multiple projects that I shot and directed myself. When I made the shift to acting for the camera I realized that headshot photography is the perfect synthesis of the skills I've been developing throughout my career. I combine my knowledge of the industry with my understanding of visual storytelling through physicality and emotional expression. I sprinkle in a lifelong love for visual art, cinematography, and a decade of working as an acrobatics coach.

I love working one-on-one with people to help them blaze forward to fulfill their goals. A career in the arts has many challenges and I use my work to be an advocate for artists to empower themselves and thrive in their fields.
